How I Honour My Husband – Emmanuela Mike-Bamiloye
Reasons You Must Be Intentional About Honour
Emmanuela Mike-Bamiloye, Gospel film actress and wife of Damilola Mike-Bamiloye has reiterated the need to honour one’s spouse, especially when such spouse is occupying a leadership or ministerial role.
Using herself as an example, Emmanuela said it is important to be cautious and intentional when dealing with a spouse.
She revealed that it is easy for over-familiarity to creep in as a result of the close relationship and interaction one is sharing with a husband, siblings and even parents.
She said, “Recently, I’ve become cautious and intentional about my attitude and even my thought towards my husband @damilolamikebamiloye making sure to always honour him and hold him in high esteem.
“When you are fond of someone e.g a spouse, siblings, parents etc, if care is not taken, over-familiarity can creep in and that is dangerous especially if they have a ministerial or leadership role.
“Because you see them every day, you play and laugh together, you eat and do basic things together, the tendency for you to look down on or dishonour them is pretty high.
She said further that Michal was so used to David that she forgot he was the Lord’s anointed and a king over Israel, hence, her decision to despise him, an action which brought dire consequence.
“That was the case with Michal. She was ‘used to’ David. She forgot he was king over Israel and a servant of God. All she saw was a man who she felt she knew inside out and she chose to despise him in her heart and as a result, her womb was shut 2 Sam 6:16.
“As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart.”
“Some people are operating under closed heaven because they despised God’s servants in their heart. It all starts from the heart. That’s why the Bible says to guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life Proverbs 4:23.
“You may not have spoken against them outwardly but have you despised them in your heart? Is your heart is in the right place?
Ask God to scan your heart and fix it in any way you have gone wrong. May God help us all in Jesus name, amen.
